21 July 2023

On Saturday night, Nexus Airlines was recognised for their successful launch and entry into service after being awarded gold in the New Business Category at the Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards at Crown Perth.

Nexus Airlines launched their brand at Optus Stadium on the 17th of May before commencing flights across regional Western Australia on the 10th of July 2023. Born in regional WA, Nexus Airlines is proud to be Western Australia’s first truly regional airline with two bases in Geraldton and Broome. Nexus Airlines provides regular, reliable, and affordable air access that connects Perth to the Mid-West, the Mid-West to the Kimberley and the Kimberley into the Northern Territory. Nexus Airlines Managing Director Michael McConachy said it was a great honour to receive the award on Saturday night and it was a true testament to his team’s hard work.

“We have a dedicated team at Nexus Airlines and everything we have achieved so far is a credit to them,” Mr McConachy said. “Nexus Airlines has been a long-term ambition of mine as I am passionate about ensuring our regions in WA continue to thrive and prosper. Affordable, reliable air travel is imperative to increasing the liveability of our regions and it provides greater access for all, including visitors.”

Mr McConachy also thanked the State and local governments for their support, and the City of Geraldton and Shire of Broome for opening their arms and welcoming Nexus Airlines into their regions.

“I believe Nexus Airlines winning this award is a win for the whole state and I would like to thank the residents of regional WA and also our home bases of Geraldton and Broome for their support of Nexus Airlines. It has been a strong focus of ours to ensure we support local businesses and have a positive impact on the regions we operate in, and I hope residents have started to see the flow on effects of this.”

State Member for the Kimberley, Divina D’Anna congratulated Nexus Airlines for their award.

“It is so important that regional and remote people are able to access affordable and reliable air travel – whether it is for work, health reasons or to visit family and friends,” Ms D’anna said. “It is clear that both locals and tourists have welcomed Nexus Airlines into the market, and I congratulate all the hard work from the team.”

Lara Dalton MLA, Member for Geraldton also congratulated Nexus Airlines.

“The expansion of Western Australia’s inter-regional flight network (IRFN) supported by the WA Government has enabled Nexus’s launch in Geraldton offering new routes and greater choice,” Ms Dalton said. “This a well-deserved award. I’ve heard nothing but glowing praise for the airline, likening them to air travel of days gone by, where every customer is treated like a first-class passenger.”
