Before you fly

Expectant Parent Information

If you are expecting a baby, firstly – congratulations! Secondly, we want to ensure that your flight with Nexus Airlines is as comfortable as possible, so please let our cabin crew know if you need any assistance.

For the safety of yourself, and your child, we recommend discussing travel arrangements with your doctor before flying, especially in the later stages of your pregnancy.

Expectant mothers with single pregnancies and no complications may travel up to the end of the 40th week. Those with multiple pregnancies and no complications may travel up to the end of the 36th week.

Expectant mothers may travel up to the end of the 28th week with no restrictions. From the 29th week ,a medical certificate is required from a doctor or midwife stating the following:

  • The expected due date
  • Whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy
  • Confirmation of any complications and the mother’s fitness to fly

If there are complications at any stage of the pregnancy, a current medical certificate will be required. The certificate must include the same information as above.

Medical certificates should be carried with the passenger and shown on request.

After giving birth, the mother will need medical certificate to travel within 7 days of birth.

Parents or guardians travelling with an infant less than 7 days old at the time of travel must obtain a medical certificate stating the infant’s fitness to travel.
