NAIDOC Week celebrations take flight at Nexus Airlines
10 July 2025From 7–13 July 2025, Nexus Airlines is proud to honour NAIDOC Week with a one-of-a-kind in-flight dining experience that pays tribute to the rich and diverse culinary traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Partnering with The Storyteller Chef and Spice Cartel, this limited-edition menu is a vibrant fusion of First Nations and Asian flavours, curated by Zach Green, a proud Gunditjmara and Palawa man, and brought to life with the culinary creativity of Vee Gunasegaran, known for her bold Malaysian-inspired dishes.
The collaboration is more than a nod to tradition; it’s a celebration of the historic trading ties between First Nations communities, particularly from Arnhem Land, and the Makassan people of Sulawesi. Through food, passengers are invited to engage with these deep connections and cultural stories.
On the menu:
- Vegetarian Sausage Roll with Native Pepperleaf & Davidson Powder
- Creamy Mushroom & Vege Pie with Native Pepperleaf
- Pulled Beef Rendang Pie with Native Lemongrass
- Beef Sausage Roll with Native Pepperleaf
- Fried Rice with Native Pepperleaf & Davidson Powder
Every dish is crafted with native ingredients that reflect Country, story, and spirit, transforming mealtime into a sensory journey of culture and connection.
At Nexus Airlines, we’re passionate about supporting initiatives that champion identity and community. This partnership shines a light on the resilience and creativity of Indigenous cultures through the universal language of food.
